ABOUT THE GAME

Marauders is a hardcore, first-person, multiplayer looter shooter set in a dystopian sci-fi universe developed in Unreal engine 4. As a space pirate, players can work solo or in a squad of up to four to navigate a hostile battleground, hunt for loot, craft new weapons and gear, and salvage what they’ll need to survive. Following the release into Steam Early Access in October 2022, Marauders has seen over half a million raiders take to space.

Development story

I joined the team at Small Impact Games in June 2021 shortly after they closed new backing from players and signed onboard with Team 17 as publisher for the game. A requirement was identified for a new level design direction lead by someone with previous experience of designing maps for competitive first-person shooters.

Over the following 18 months leading up to the Early Access release and beyond, I designed, blocked out, and refined 7 of the 9 launch raid locations as well as the interiors for the game’s ships. These were core to the games breaching and docking mechanics. I provided additional services assisting in set dressing on some of the levels.
